Although the specifics of the agreement are still being worked out, it is well known that Butler will be joining Stephen Curry and Draymond Green in the Bay Area to play as part of a potent trio.

Butler's relationship with the Heat soured back in December after he was not able to get his desired maximum deal.
The senior executive's callout of the Miami wing back in May caused Pat Riley and the rest of the club leadership to be reluctant to extend Butler due to availability concerns.
The Heat first rejected the idea of trading Butler amid rumors that the star wanted to leave Miami. However, that position was quickly altered when the 35-year-old was suspended three times for a number of actions that were bad for the squad.
For the previous several games while wearing a Heat uniform, Butler has been notably quiet and disengaged, and his average of 17.0 points per game is the lowest since his third year in the NBA.
During their six-year collaboration, Butler and the Heat comparatively outperformed despite their disagreements. They advanced to two NBA Finals in 2020 and 2023 and only missed one postseason.
