NBA Trade Rumors: Jonathan Kuminga’s Agent Hints at Potential Warriors Trade Before Deadline
Aaron Turner, agent for Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, indicated there is a “good chance” the 22-year-old could be traded before the 2025-26 NBA in-season deadline. Turner made the comments during an appearance on 95.7 The Game’s Steiny & Guru show.
The remarks come amid a contract standoff between Kuminga, a restricted free agent, and the Warriors. ESPN’s Anthony Slater and Shams Charania recently reported that Golden State increased its offer to three years and $75.2 million, including a team option for the final year. Their prior offer was two years for $45 million with a team option for the second year. Both offers reportedly require Kuminga to waive the “inherent no-trade clause.”
Turner explained on The Hoop Collective podcast that Kuminga would sign either deal if the team option were changed to a player option, giving him more control over his future should he be traded to a team that isn’t the right fit.
Additionally, Turner said Kuminga is open to accepting the $7.9 million qualifying offer, which would allow him to enter unrestricted free agency next summer. “There’s a lot of upside,” Turner said. “He wants to pick where he wants to go. So the QO is real for sure.”
The No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 draft, Kuminga will turn 23 on Oct. 6. He had a mixed 2024-25 season, averaging 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 45.4 percent shooting over 47 games.
