Memphis Grizzlies might trade Ja Morant like Mavs` Luka Doncic treatment if team early out playoffs

NBA Rumors: Memphis Grizzlies might trade Ja Morant like Mavs` Luka Doncic treatment if team early out playoffs

More drama is anticipated this summer following a tumultuous mid-season trade deadline.

After the Dallas Mavericks moved Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis in what is undoubtedly the largest transaction in league history, the entire basketball world was completely upended.

Days after the Doncic blockbuster deal, other teams made their own significant, league-altering moves.

The NFL Super Bowl was overshadowed by league drama, from Jimmy Butler finally resolving his dispute with the Miami Heat by being moved to the Golden State Warriors to De'Aaron Fox finally getting what he wanted when the Sacramento Kings traded him to the San Antonio Spurs.

Following all of this activity, an NBA executive allegedly proposed yet another unusual name that might soon be in the running.

An NBA executive designates Ja Morant as a player to keep an eye on in case he is dealt next.

We shouldn't be shocked by the potential moves that could occur in the future after the Doncic transaction. According to a league source, Ja Morant's circumstances should therefore be properly monitored.

According to Howard Beck, who recently appeared on The Ringer's "Real Ones" podcast, an NBA official believes that Morant is a player to "keep an eye on" as a possible trade possibility in the summer.

That is expected to occur, particularly if the Memphis Grizzlies perform poorly this season.

Around the trade deadline, I'm always checking in with executives to see what we saw, what we didn't see, and what's coming up. And you are constantly, constantly, constantly watching this league to see who will be the next big thing to be dealt, aren't you?

"And suddenly someone said, watch Ja [Morant] this summer," Beck recalled.

They delve just far enough into the life cycle of Ja Morant. Additionally, the Ja, [Desmond] Bane, and [Jaren] Jackson Jr. combo should have plenty of runway because they are young enough. However, you never have as much runway as you anticipate in this league. It's clear that Ja has had some problems.

"I'm not saying it should happen, nor am I saying it will. I'm simply suggesting that if they were to flame out too soon, it's something to watch.

Following his terrible off-court problems, Ja Morant is reportedly back on track with the Grizzlies.

In the background, Morant is quietly relishing his own season of atonement in 2024–2025. The 25-year-old, who is still having trouble staying healthy, is nonetheless productive despite having a career-low minutes average (28.8), recording 20.7 points, 7.4 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 32 games.

After the forgettable scandals surrounding Morant throughout the 2022–2023 season, this has been a fantastic answer from their cherished franchise sensation for every Grizzlies fan.

In addition to Morant, the Grizzlies put up a strong comeback this season. With 36-18, they are currently the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, reclaiming their position as one of the league's most promising young teams despite numerous injuries throughout their roster.

The possibility that Morant would be traded is intriguing, particularly considering Memphis is suddenly winning again thanks to him. However, everything can rely on the outcome of the playoffs.

They might be even more inclined to make adjustments if their season finishes poorly.
