A Miami Heat star can make another NBA team a contender for the championship; Jimmy Butler joining the Phoenix Suns or GS Warriors won't work.
The only thing that is known about Jimmy Butler's status with the Miami Heat is that it appears he will be leaving.
Jimmy Butler's tenure with the Miami Heat has come to an end; he was suspended for the third time this month for leaving practice.
Where he will wind up is a mystery, but Miami is prepared to trade Butler if they can find a good deal.
Bradley Beal's high contract makes him unappealing to the Heat, thus if the Phoenix Suns continue to pursue Butler, a multi-team deal will be necessary.
Insider Shams Charania reported the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns had held trade conversations with the Miami Heat, providing an update on the issue via ESPN.
Three-time NBA champion Danny Green responded by saying he doesn't think Butler helps any club contend for the championship. He suggests the Memphis Grizzlies instead.
"I don't think he puts either one of them over the edge," says Green. He probably improves Phoenix a little, but they've surpassed Golden State as a team, so I don't see them competing.
The Memphis Grizzlies are the team he doesn't want to visit, therefore I believe he should give them some more thought.
They are one of the West's top-seeded teams. They've performed admirably. They're young. They require an additional wing, some defensive edge, and some tenacity.
In addition to saying it's a deal that can benefit the veteran monetarily, Green thinks the Grizzlies can contend with Butler for the championship.
Should he visit Memphis. In my opinion, he makes them competitive and a team that can win for a few years.
"He's looking for that extension, and they probably have the funds to give it to him."
In an interview with ESPN 24 hours before Butler's most recent ban, Kendrick Perkins also predicted that the Memphis Grizzlies would be the team's first pick.
Additionally, trade analyst Bobby Marks has endorsed a Grizzlies trade for Butler, claiming it is a better contract agreement than any other top candidate.
Butler may help the Memphis Grizzlies, who currently have a 31-16 record and are third in the Western Conference, although they were thrashed in a loss to the Knicks.
