MLB Rumors: Pascal Siakam of the Indiana Pacers makes an open statement about the Luka Doncic deal.
Pascal Siakam, a forward with the Indiana Pacers, refused to participate in the discussion about what the NBA ought to alter. He thought he might be the next to be traded after Luka Doncic was abruptly traded.
"I don't enjoy going into that, bro. I'm only here to avoid being fined. I don't mind at all," Siakam jokingly said. "I'm trying to relax; they traded Luka [Doncic] last time."
It was evident to other NBA players after that deal that nobody was safe. It is not common to trade a franchise player in the middle of the season. Doncic was a Dallas Mavericks mainstay. He did, after all, assist the team in reaching the NBA Finals in 2024. Although they lost to the Dallas Mavericks, it was a telling sign of things to come.
The Indiana standout, though, had to put up with some of the same labor. Last season, the Pacers made a successful trade for Siakam. They advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals and had one of the best attacks. Indiana had a fantastic performance. Tyrese Haliburton, the point guard, was also given a big man who can develop his offense.
Pascal Siakam of the Pacers doesn't want a trade involving Luka Doncic.
The transaction genuinely rocked the NBA once more. Many players were taken aback, and some believed they would be the next to be fired. Oddly enough, Kevin Durant was on the verge of that situation. His name was included to trade rumors by the Phoenix Suns without informing him.
It caused some conflict, but this is just another example of a team failing to notify their star player of a move. Siakam might not have to worry about a possible trade, though. In the midst of the 2024 season, the Pacers took the bold decision to acquire him. He enjoyed some success throughout his brief half-season with them.
The Pacers are doing well now that the season is over. They are fourth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 30-23. They rank among the league's top 10 offensive teams in terms of points per game. Siakam will always be a part of head coach Rick Carlisle's high-octane offense.
In any case, what he said is still true. No matter how well you get along with a front office, nobody is really safe.
