NBA Rumors: Kevin Durant suggests that a trade to the Golden State Warriors in the offseason is possible
The Golden State Warriors may be able to reunite with Kevin Durant and return to their previous level of dominance.
From 2015 to 2019, the Golden State Warriors dominated the league. When Kevin Durant joined them in the summer of 2016, they were a total force, even though they might have won without him.
He allegedly knocked down rumors that he might have been traded back to the Warriors during this trade deadline. Was he unwilling to confront the fans who failed to give him proper credit? Unless KD told us, we would never know the precise reason why he effectively vetoed the transaction. He did, in fact, and our hypotheses were wrong.
KD on Kerr saying he didn't want to run it back with the Dubs:

In the middle of the season, KD did not want to be traded. He wants to finish with his fellow Phoenix Suns players. KD's line of thinking is admirable, but the Suns, who are 26-28, are not in the play-in picture. KD could not have predicted that he, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker would be having trouble this early in the season. Although the trio hasn't played much together, their 418 minutes together are just plus-0.05.
For the Warriors, Kevin Durant still makes a lot of sense.
Given their poor performance and the Suns' inclusion in trade negotiations at the deadline, it is likely that Durant will return to the block this summer.
Durant is the most valuable of those three, and Phoenix isn't going anywhere. He would recover draft picks, and perhaps Phoenix could team Booker with some young talent.
Jimmy Butker was purchased by Golden State at the last minute. They climb the Western Conference standings with that move, but it won't be enough to defeat the world's best teams, the Thunder and Nuggets. Despite the fact that Draymond Green promises another ring, the Warriors will have to start over after losing in this year's playoffs.
Going after their old friend KD makes too much sense, especially when the Suns are dangling Durant and the Warriors need more elite players to help Chrry achieve ring No. 5. To acquire a Steph/KD/Butler unit, the Warriors have to pledge their future.
The organization had previously opposed that option, but you have to make the most of Curry's window when he is this good. It appears that they will have to give up all of their young assets, including draft capital, Moses Moody, and Jonathan Kuminga. To make the money work, Golden State may have to include Draymond in the transaction. He helped put this thing together piece by piece, so it will hurt, but if they can get Kevin Durant, they have to hit. The chemistry between him and Curry is unparalleled.
The two walking Hall of Famers have dominated the All-Star, NBA, and Olympic stages. It has shown to be a winning combination to pair the undisputed GOAT shooter in Curry with the perhaps best scorer in KD. Both continue to dominate at a LeBron James-like pace even in the latter years of their careers. Despite being in their 30s, Curry and Durant are still among the top 10 players. Since neither band is slowing down, getting them back together is a good idea for their future. Both parties must complete Father Time if the Warriors and Durant are amenable to getting back together.
