NBA Rumors: Karl-Anthony Towns talks about New York Knicks after lose to Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics
Examining how a prospective competing squad compares to other genuine title-contending teams is one of the best methods to determine their prospects of winning it all. However, the New York Knicks might want to look away from their record against the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers, the two best teams in the Eastern Conference. Two days after being thrashed by the Cavaliers, 142-105, the Knicks suffered yet another crushing defeat on Sunday night, falling to the Celtics 118-105.
With those two recent losses, the Knicks' record against the Cavaliers and Celtics this season is currently 0-5 with an average loss margin of 21.2 points.
They lost to Cleveland 110-104 in October, which was their only close game against either of those clubs.
This is simply very concerning for the Knicks, who will probably need to defeat the Cavaliers or the Celtics in order to overcome the East playoff gauntlet. Karl-Anthony Towns, however, continues to advocate for patience, stating that they are still learning about themselves and how to compete against the best, and he begs critics to hold off on passing judgment until the playoffs.
We're a work in progress, as I stated at the start of the season. "Until the day we enter the postseason, we will be a work in progress throughout the entire year," Towns stated, as reported by ESPN.
The New York Knicks' poor defense is exposed by the Cavaliers and Celtics.
The New York Knicks made the decision to put more of an emphasis on their offense at the expense of some defense when they traded for Karl-Anthony Towns. Mikal Bridges was brought in to play on the wing alongside OG Anunoby, but they lost a lot of defense when Isaiah Hartenstein left for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Knicks gave up a lot of dribble penetration against the Cavaliers, which led to lengthy rotations and numerous open three-point attempts. Additionally, they performed poorly on both sides of the court against the Celtics. The Knicks can't play slackly against these two clubs, but they should be more focused come postseason time, with Towns eager to prove himself.
