NBA Trade Rumors: Jimmy Butler Identifies Warriors' Biggest Weakness After Blowout Loss to Heat
The Golden State Warriors suffered one of their worst losses of the season in Jimmy Butler’s return to Miami, falling 112-86 to the Heat. With Stephen Curry sidelined due to a pelvic injury, the Warriors' offense collapsed, shooting just 39.8% from the field and a miserable 23.7% from three.
Even Butler struggled, managing just 11 points on 5-12 shooting in what was supposed to be a statement game against his former team.
Butler Calls Out Warriors’ Defensive Effort
While offense was an issue, Butler believes defense is the team’s biggest concern, especially at the start of games.
“[What we need to improve is] probably the effort coming out of the jump. We’ve got to guard a little bit better. Seems like as of late everyone’s been scoring at will at the rim, getting to the free-throw line. We’ve gotten away from what got us a couple wins,” Butler told reporters via KNBR.
Golden State’s defensive struggles have been glaring in back-to-back losses to the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat. Against Atlanta, they allowed the Hawks to shoot 57% from the field. Miami, a team not known for its offense, torched the Warriors at 55.8% overall and a ridiculous 68% from three.
Can the Warriors Rebound with Upcoming Matchups?
The Warriors have a chance to turn things around quickly, with two favorable matchups ahead. On Friday, they face the struggling New Orleans Pelicans, who may be without Zion Williamson.
After that, they take on the San Antonio Spurs, who will be missing both Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox.
If Golden State can’t capitalize on these matchups, serious questions will be raised about their playoff chances.
