NBA Trade Rumors: Quentin Grimes Seeks $20M+ Per Year as 76ers Offer $39M Contract
The Philadelphia 76ers have reportedly offered restricted free agent Quentin Grimes a four-year contract worth $39 million, but the shooting guard’s agent, David Bauman, believes his client deserves $20–25 million per year, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Gina Mizell.
Sources indicate a one-year deal may be the most likely resolution for both sides. Hoops Hype’s Michael Scotto reported that the 76ers’ one-year proposal slightly exceeds Grimes’ $8.7 million qualifying offer but would require him to waive his no-trade clause. For Grimes to accept, the offer would need to be at least $14–19 million, sources say.
Grimes, 25, joined Philadelphia in a February trade from Dallas and impressed immediately, averaging 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 46.9 percent overall and 37.3 percent from three in 28 games to finish the 2024-25 season.
Despite this strong showing, the 76ers are reportedly cautious due to the small sample size and the crowded backcourt featuring Tyrese Maxey, Jared McCain, and rookie VJ Edgecombe.
If a long-term deal cannot be reached, Grimes could opt for a one-year qualifying offer of $8.7 million, which would preserve his no-trade clause. Alternatively, the 76ers have proposed a one-year “balloon payment” above the qualifying offer, but it would not include a no-trade provision.
Philadelphia kicks off the 2025-26 NBA season on October 22.
